WANT to know about Open Mic music nights in Manchester? Or in Ilkley? Ask Mandy and Craig.
On their spare evenings, resourceful Eastwood based Mandy Harris and Craig Priestley have been scouring the region, musical talent spotting.

Some of the results of their labours of love have been booked to play in the Acoustic Tent at the free Wor
ld on Your Doorstep Festival, Hebden's ever popular music festival in Calder Holmes Park on July 19/20 this year.

Fine performers in their own right, Mandy is an accomplished singer-songwriter and Craig a versatile trumpeter. They are also prominent members of the Open Mic Surgery at the Stubbing Wharf, Hebden Bridge, where they compere as a duo at least once a month.

So, if you want to hear the top quality music programme they have drawn up, all you have to do is visit the Acoustic Tent at the festival on the Sunday afternoon between 4 pm and 7.30 pm, the final session of the festival.

Amongst other performers, are Stefan and Dave Pope, father and son, from Mossley, two of the most original voices on the Manchester scene; Gary Binks, songwriter and band-leader from Clitheroe; Tony Levy, a self-confessed musical 'tart' from Keighley, into teasing audience interaction with banter and choruses; Hebden Bridge's own Alice Jane, singer-songwriter, still in her mid-teens and one of the most talented of all local youngsters; Tom O'Gorman, a unique Lancastrian performer of subtlety and grace; vivacious and dynamic Becki Roberts, leader of the new band on the block 'Becks and the Bullets', who will be appearing at no less than three venues in the festival.

In Mandy and Craig's set, she will be teaming up with the hugely talented James Bragg, widely acknowledged as one of the most original and gifted musicians in the district; and last but not least, to close the festival, Captain Hotknives, 'the most talented man on the planet', a legend in 'Bradfud'.

Since entry to the festival is free, donations are welcome. Or if you would like to help fund the festival, come along to the singer-songwriter competitive showcase at the Trades Club in Hebden Bridge on Thursday June 19. The judges include Steve Tilston and Dave Boardman, and the prize will be three hours free recording in the local Valvue Recording studio.

More festival information can be had by e-mailing katie@tradesclub.info or by visiting the festival website at www.theworldonyourdoorstep.org.

Anyone who would like to help with the festival should get in touch with Emma Smith at ejsmith64@hotmail.co.uk or any evening on 01422 846182 or with Viv on 01422 844091."
