Calling Calderdale residents - this is your chance to make your views heard.
Calderdale Council is holding the last of this summer's new Area Conferences on Saturday, 19th July. The area conference covers the Upper Valley wards of Luddendenfoot, Calder, Ryburn and Todmorden, and follows three other events held earlier in the
month to launch the new Area Forums.
The conferences are a chance for residents to identify issues affecting where they live, work and play, leading up to more detailed discussion of the issues at Area Forums in the autumn.
The conference will be held between 10.30am and 1pm at St. Michaels Church, Mytholmroyd. To book your place and discuss any special requirements - such as help with transport or any access needs - please contact Fi Godfrey-Faussett on 01422 392410 or email fi.godfrey-faussett@calderdale.gov.uk. Sign language interpreters and hearing induction loops will be available on the day.
More Area Forum meetings will follow from September, focusing on the issues raised at the conferences. These will be based in a specific ward, town or village of the four designated areas and will focus specifically on their main concerns.
The meetings offer a new way for people to have a say about the issues in their area. Residents will be able to find out what's happening where they live, tell Council members and officers and other services such as the Police and Health Service what's important to them and put forward ideas about things they would like to change.
Councillor Amanda Byrne, Portfolio Holder for Community Services, said:
"We really need as many people as possible to attend this event and have their say. This is your chance to tell us how we can improve your community. The first three area conferences were a huge success and we are hoping to build on that great start. The project is still in the early stages and by attending this weekend you can help shape where it goes in the future."
Councillor Janet Battye, chair of the Upper Valley Area Forum, said:
"This will be a good opportunity for local people to get more directly involved with the services provided by Calderdale Council and partner organisations. It's important that local people come along and have their say."
