HEBDEN Bridge will be bursting with budding poets on Saturday, July 19, when a whole day of poetry workshops takes place around the town.
There is something for everyone, from beginners to experienced writers wanting to renew their skills.

Topics range from to ‘Poetry Characters’ and ‘Writing the Self’ to ‘Poetry from Life’ and ‘Poetry from Drama’, and workshops will be led by experienced and published poets from around the UK.

The day will finish with an evening performance at Holme Street Arts Centre, Hebden Bridge, where everyone who has attended a workshop is invited to celebrate their work and read their own poetry.

For more information and tickets, please contact Hebden Bridge Library or phone Anna Turner on 01422 392629, or email anna.turner@calderdale.gov.uk. Information on the workshops is also at www.calderdale.gov.uk

The event is part of National Year of Reading, when Calderdale Council’s Libraries, Museums and Arts team aims to bring the importance of reading sharply into focus. An exciting programme of projects and events is planned, including supporting free libraries in train stations and pubs, competitions, workshops, author events, and a readers’ and writers’ festival in October.
