LASER questing, bowling, graffiti art projects and sports are among the activities available to young people this summer holiday.
Calderdale Council's Upper Calder Valley Young People's Service has seven centres open in the upper valley, mostly in the evenings, for young people to meet and join in projects. There is also an outdoor adventure residential weekend organised for yo
ung people who attend youth centres.
Lorraine Daber, Calderdale's Young People's Service area coordinator, said everyone was looking forward to the start of the summer.
"We always enjoy the summer schemes and this year they should be even more exciting because we've got so much on offer. The young people asked us to provide activities in the evenings so that's what we've done."
The Luddenden Youth Club, on Kershaw Drive, will be open in weeks one to four of the summer holidays between 12.30pm and 3pm on Mondays and Thursdays; on Tuesdays between 7pm and 9.30pm for seniors and on Wednesdays between 6.30pm and 8.30pm for juniors. There will be outings to Townley Park, bowling and laser quest, Flamingo Land and Mixenden Outdoor Centre.
At the Mytholmroyd Youth Centre, based at Mytholmroyd Community Centre, young people are invited to chill out or to take part in a wide range of activities and outings. The centre is open in the fourth, fifth and sixth week of the holidays on Mondays and Thursdays from 7pm and 9.30pm.
In Hebden Bridge, from the first to the fifth week of the holidays, people are invited to meet James and the youth team in Calder Holmes Park by the pavillion between 6.30pm and 9.30pm for sports, graffiti projects and outdoor adventure trips.
Todmorden Young People's Centre, in Todmorden Community College, is open Mondays and Thursdays, between 7pm and 9.30pm and on Sundays between 6pm and 8.30pm throughout the holidays. A wide variety of activities from art projects to sports and outdoor adventure are available.
Cornholme Youth Club meets in St Michael's and All Angels Church on Monday evenings from 7pm and 9.30pm for the first four weeks of the holidays.
Ferney Lee Youth Club, based at Ferney Lee School, is open on Tuesdays from 6.30pm to 8.30pm for the first four weeks. There will be lots of activities to choose from including go-karting, five-a-side football and outdoor adventure.
At Walsden Youth Club, in Walsden Methodist Church, there will also be lots to do including first aid, street dancing, jewellery making, swimming and trips out to go-karting and to the outdoor adventure centre. The club will be open during the last four weeks of the summer holidays on Wednesday and Friday evenings from 7pm to 9.30pm.
Anyone interested in taking part in the expedition section of the Duke of Edinburgh's Bronze Award during the last two weeks of the summer holidays are asked to get in touch.
