Holmfield 2
Luddenden Foot 5
(Magic Furniture Challenge Cup)

LUDDENDEN Foot applied the early pressure giving little of the ball to their opponents, but had to wait till the 30th minute for the breakthrough.

A crossfield ball from Robert Beattie found Jordan Pittifore 20 yards out, who cleverly brought the ball down onto his chest and smashed home a half volley into the top left hand corner.

Holmfield hit straight back and a weak corner somehow found its way over the line.

Foot re-applied the pressure and, with Danny Kirman in outstanding form, found themselves with a free kick on the edge of the box. The resultant kick saw Dave Maguire miscue his shot and the keeper fumble the ball into the back of the net.

It was all one-way traffic now and Foot added number three on 38 minutes when James Dodd hit home from 12 yards.

Foot were producing excellent passing football and good link up play from Doran and Hinchliffe set up Garath Gawkrodger for the goal of the game with a wonderful overhead kick from the edge of the box hitting the roof of the net on 42 minutes.

Foot continued the second half where they left off with man of the match Kirman completely bossing the midfield.

Foot added number five when again a Robert Beattie cross found the unmarked Maguire at the back post.

Holmfield rallied for the last five minutes and added another consolation after a defensive slip giving Foot a very comfortable win.
