LAST season's league front runners carried on where they left in the first round of Todmorden Quiz League 2008-2009 season matches.
Both recorded impressive wins, champions Todmorden CC over Shannon and runners-up Black Lion (Hare and Hounds A last year) against Other Con Club.
A storming last round where they scored 14 points couldn't quite do it for Woodpecker against Con Club who by this time had too many points in the bag.
Jack's House won the other match against Cornholme Club, Jack's pulling away in the latter stages of the game - it was pretty much "even stevens" before that.
Results: Cornholme WMC 56, Jack's House 68; Con Club 66, Woodpecker 63; Black Lion 70, Other Con Club 61; Tod CC 77, Shannon 55.
Fixtures
November 12: Jack's House v Other Con Club; Todmorden CC v Bird I' Th' Hand; Cornholme WMC v Shannon; Black Lion v Woodpecker; Con Club, bye.
