ADAM "Little Bash" Cryer of Hebden Bridge Golf Club has qualified for the grand finals in the under-16 age group of the prestigious Nick Faldo Series, writes Robo.
Last Friday young Adam, having successfully negotiated the regional qualifying competitions at Ganton and Moortown earlier in the year, won a tense sudden death play-off in the regional finals, held at The Roxburghe Golf Club near Kelso in the Scotti
sh Borders, with a birdie on the par-four third hole against James Morrison of the George Washington Golf Club.

For such a small club this is a tremendous achievement.

Club captain and junior organiser Geoff Holmes the said that everyone at the club is absolutely thrilled for Adam, who plays off a handicap of four, who now makes an all expenses paid trip of a lifetime to Brazil to play in the final.

Holmes added that the club is sure to mark this fine achievement to Adam and that his success will hopefully act as an inspiration to other talented youngsters.

Adam, who for the last two years has also represented the Halifax and Huddersfield Union Team at under-18 level, will play The Grand Final at the Costa do Sauipe Golf Resort between 25 and 31 October against players from 15 other countries.

Cryer, pictured, will be hoping to add to his recent successes in the Hebden Bridge Junior Open on Sunday September, 7.

Anyone wishing to enter the event should send an email to geoff.holmes1@talktalk.net or, alternatively, turn up on the day at 9am.

For the past three years has been generously sponsored by First Bus who provide a prize table second to none and is open to all youngsters in the Calderdale/Kirklees Area with a handicap of 28 or less.

The entry fee of £7 includes a hot meal and a cold drink.
