A SECOND 10-year-old has made his debut for Hebden Bridge Golf Club, writes Robo.
Jacob Shaw made his bow in an under-18 junior league match at Outlane.

He is several months younger than Harry Wade who made his debut a few weeks ago at Bradley Park and was previously the youngest player to compete in the league.

Young Jacob got off to an excellent start making a gross par 4 on the first hole for a half against an opponent some five years older. Despite then going three down after four holes he showed his fighting spirit eventually losing 4&3, a really excellent result having only received two shots, playing off the maximum handicap allowed of 24.

The highlight of the round was when Jacob drove the ravine off the tee on the fourth hole, a feat not achieved I believe by many 10-year old's, drawing gasps of admiration from some of the home members playing the 17th hole.

Hebden Bridge lost the match 8-0, despite pushing Outlane, who are top of the league, closely in all of the matches.

Adam Cryer, aged 15, who plays off four, had to concede ten shots against his opponent but only narrowly lost on the last hole.

The previous night Hebden Bridge beat Huddersfield (Fixby) Golf Club at Mount Skip 7-1, making for a really close finish in the league and needing a good result in the last league match of the season this Friday at home against Halifax (Ogden Golf Club) in order to have a chance of a top four finish and thereby making the play off's.

Either way, the future looks bright for these Mount Skip youngsters, who have others coming along behind them to keep them on their toes.
