CHAMPIONS Mytholmroyd sneaked home in the first of two games against Triangle, winning by just one run in Saturday's Halifax League Premier Division clash.
Christian Silkstone seemed to be steering Triangle to the win with a superb 80 on a pitch softened by last week's rain, only to be last man out attempting the winning hit.

Silkstone and Peter Madden had put on 21 for the final wicket as Triangle c
hased down the home side's total of 190.

They needed six to win off the final over - bowled by four-wicket Paul Senior - and Silkstone hit the first delivery for four. However, next ball went to mid-on where Robert Cole took the catch above his head.

Mytholmroyd's 190 was a result of good knocks from Tom Earle (33), Zeb Mahmood (35), Shahid Rashid (22) in the face of a 5 for 78 haul by young paceman Kurtis Whippey.

'Royd looked then reduced Triangle to 61 for four in reply - Gideon Foster 2 for 78 and Cole 2 for 29 - before Silkstone so nearly tipped the scales the visitors' way.

Booth continued their impressive recent run with victory over Copley at Broadfold Park.

Brown (pictured), fresh back from his nuclear-science studies at Newcastle University notched his first ton of the season as Booth ran up a lively 249-8. Ably assisted by veteran Ian Sharkey (41), Brown set off at a healthy lick and raced to his fifty in fine style, reaching the milestone with a towering straight six. He continued with a beefy array of drives and pulls, plus some daring reverse sweeps and was the cornerstone of Booth's commanding total.

In reply, Copley were never allowed to get going as Richard Laycock and Oliver Collinge produced another fine opening salvo to pin Copley on the back foot. Wickets fell steadily but as the overs slid by, Booth were struggling to get amongst the tail.

But enter spin- wizard Wajid Ali, who scuttled Copley's mystified lower middle order to set up a tense finale. As the game entered the last over, Copley were nine-down and hanging on for dear life. Laycock came steaming in and with only two balls remaining, produced a snorting throat ball that Goulden could only fend to the safe hands of Ian Sharkey at second slip

In Division one Luddenden Foot lost again but at least managed to stop promotion contenders Blackley from taking maximum points.

A defiant, unbeaten 45 from Tony Martin helped Foot reach 159 for eight with Whipp, 33, and Eastwood, 23, the other major contributors.

Ian Nicolson bowled Mark Thacker with the last ball of his first over in Blackley's reply but the second wicket pair of Arkam Asif (51no) and David Townsend (48) steadied the ship and Craig Taylor's 33 helped Blackley to a seven wicket win with eight overs to spare.

Old Town had another disappointing day in Division two as they lost by ten wickets to Greetland.

Jamil hit 45 for Old Town but it was a rare bright spot on their 108, Hussain's 15, the only other batsman in double figures.

Matthew Britton and Mohammed Mushtaq then knocked the runs off inside 20 overs.
