(Halifax League Premier Division)

FOOT continued where they left off last week with another impressive win.

They applied intense pressure from the start and were rewarded after 12 minutes when an opportunist strike from Jordan Pettifore on 25 yards caught out Darren Robinson in goal and nestled in the bottom left hand corner of the net, after a through ball from Darren Smith.

Foot kept the pressure up with Dodd in midfield starting to take control and his defence splitting passes were causing Stainland all sorts of problems.

On 20 minutes Foot forced a corner sent over by Clegg. As the ball came out of the area Alex Austin very cleverly hit a left foot shot into the bottom right hand corner of the net this time.

The valley side didn’t let slip and with Clegg in a menacing mood down the right were rewarded with a penalty strike from Gawkrodger. Karl Jowett broke free for Stainland in the closing minutes only to see his strike well saved by Miles.

The second half started completely differently with Stainland applying the pressure for the first 20 minutes. Sam Hinchliffe and Dan McGreavy were in outstanding form at the back soaking up the waves of pressure.

On 55 minutes Stainland did get the breakthrough with a hotly disputed penalty converted by Rob Gerrard. Stainland were now in the driving seat and saw another superb save from Miles and moments later Jowett broke free only to see his shot hit the post.

Foot rallied once again and this time saw Stock putting in some defensive passes, eventually seeing Pettifore break free and smash an unstoppable shot into the top right hand corner.

Foot were now in a rampant mood and moment’s later man of the match Pettifore broke the Stainland defence and coolly lobbed the Robinson to complete his hat-trick and give his side an outstanding 5-1 win against the previously unbeaten Stainland.

l A good day for Foot saw their reserves go goal crazy as they beat Salem Reserves 9-4 in Division three.

Gladwin scored five and there was a brace for Wilson in addition to goals from Lymm and Keegan.

In the same division it was goal-less between Wadsworth United and Calder 76 Reserves.
